Maine Guide

Maine is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. It is the northernmost portion of both New England and the eastern United States. The state is known for its scenery — its jagged, mostly rocky coastline, its low, rolling mountains, and its heavily forested interior — as well as for its seafood cuisine, especially lobsters and clams.

There are two main possibilities for the origin of the name "Maine." The more probable etymology is that the state's name refers to the mainland, as opposed to the coastal islands. The other possibility is that the state is named after the French province of Maine.

Although the water is decidedly cool, Maine's mostly rocky coastline and nearly 60 lighthouses make for some beautiful scenery. That, a comfortable place to stay, and a Maine lobster may be all you need.
